Led by underwater photographer Jono Allen, our team brings together diverse talents and deep expertise, united by a shared love for the ocean and a commitment to responsible, meaningful wildlife interactions around the world.

Founder

Jono Allen

Jono is an Australian underwater photographer, freediving instructor, environmental scientist, marine megafauna guide and filmmaker dedicated to capturing powerful visuals to catalyse meaningful change for our oceans.

His work is driven by one motivation: to inspire positive action by facilitating meaningful connections with wildlife. He has gained extensive in field experience working with both terrestrial and marine megafauna across the world including; Kenya, Tonga, Mexico, Maldives, Indonesia, Azores, Fiji and the vibrant reefs of his ocean home in Australia.

Jono’s life took an unexpected turn when he helped rescued an entangled whale shark in the Maldives together with a local friend and diver. Shortly afterwards he co-founded the Fuvahmulah Marine Foundation to help address plastic pollution and wildlife entanglement on the island. With a deep love for non-intrusive forms of research and expeditions, he is both a passionate freediving instructor and scuba diver.

Jono’s work has been featured in world-class underwater photography competitions and publications.

Paul Rowsthorn

Co-founder of Airguides, Paul is a passionate traveller who turned his love of adventure into a job. Airguides is a platform that connects media with storytellers to commercialisetheircontent and which promotes sustainable travel. In partnership with the world's most inspiring storytellers, Paul works to create digital marketing campaigns for destinations and brands while championing environmentally and socially sustainable travel.

In his work at Airguides, Paul is committed to ensuring that each adventure not only leaves travellers with unforgettable memories but also makes a positive impact on the world around us. Paul also brings his sustainable ethos travel to work at Blue Vagabonds, helping coordinate our trips in Tonga.

Hannah Coogans

Hannah is an investigative journalist working as a team member here at Blue Vagabonds. She helps keep things running smoothly to facilitate easy, fun ocean adventures for guests from around the world.

Her previous work includes reporting on a variety of ocean issues such as illegal distant water fishing, whaling and the shark fin trade. She still has a passion for story telling and investigating which she pursues when she isn’t coordinating logistics or swimming with marine life!
